Hope4 Centerville - Washington Township

One of the core suburbs of Metropolitan Dayton, Centerville, OH was established in 1968 and is now home to over 23,000 residents. The city prides itself on its rich history, architectural beauty, and local museums. But more importantly, Centerville is most proud of its strong sense of community.

How It Started

Hope4Centerville-Washington Township (H4C-WT) was established in June of 2021 after seeing the immense impact Hope4WestCarrollton and Hope4Riverside were having in their communities. Steve Rudisill, lead pastor of The Point Church and member of the Gem City Church Collective, took on the position of H4C-WT Director in the summer of 2021 after attending their first meeting and feeling inspired to lead the group and maximize their impact in the community.

Since its inception, H4C-WT has connected with nearly 30 community partners including churches, schools, nonprofits, and local organizations. Together, these partners have worked to provide struggling families with school supplies, haircuts, and general healthcare needs. H4C-WT also believes that every child should experience the joy of Christmas, so they have partnered with Fairhaven Church to create a holiday storefront where families can shop for Christmas presents at a highly discounted or free rate.

H4C-WT continues to meet once a month to visit new opportunities for giving and partnership, as well as continue their positive impact on the families in Centerville, OH.

H4C-WT Partners with Living Water Lutheran Church to Host Back-to-School Bash at Chevy Chase Apartments

Chevy Chase Apartments is one of Centerville’s affordable housing complexes located near the heart of the city. According to The Economic Times, affordable housing, “refers to housing units that are affordable by that section of society whose income is below the median household income.”

With many families in this community struggling to afford basic and extra needs, H4C-WT has partnered with Living Water Lutheran Church to host a back-to-school bash, where parents and their children can get fresh haircuts, book bags, school supplies, and basic immunizations needed for the school year. To date, H4C-WT has donated 120 book bags to these students!

H4C-WT Partners with Fairhaven Church to Give Christmas to All Families

Waking up on Christmas morning to sound of children laughing and wrapping paper ripping is one of the greatest joys a parent can provide their child. However, not all families have the disposable income to go out to the shops a buy gifts for their children. As we approach the holiday months, H4C-WT has identified this need and has been working tirelessly to provide a solution.

From November 19th to December 19th, 2022, H4C-WT will be partnering with Fairhaven Church to host a Christmas storefront where families who are unable to afford presents for their children can come and shop for a highly discounted or free rate. These gifts come from generous donors all over the Dayton area, and H4C-WT is extremely grateful to every organization and volunteer who has been working to make this storefront a reality.

Mentor Youth

Caring adults who show up and stick around in the lives of youth can change everything. One caring mentor, whether it is in-person and online, can remind today’s youth they matter, helping them escape a life of brokenness and despair to build a future of purpose, hope, and faith.

Strengthen Families

Families create a community’s foundation. And today’s families work harder than ever to navigate greater joblessness, deeper food insecurity, and educational obstacles. Coaching closes those gaps and empowers families’ providers. The result is stronger families who do more than survive: they thrive.
